I had heard at the beginning of the month that there was a water main break at the Niagara Falls Aviary and they were expecting to be closed for a week. A commenter on a different post said that they were going to be closed till the Spring. I visited the Niagara Falls Aviary web site and saw the following:

I called them to find out when they’d be open. I was told that the water main break caused damage on the main floor. The cafe needs to be almost entirely rebuilt. Niether the elevevators or escalators are working, so there is no way to get people up to where the birds are. The birds are fine as they are above where the water damage was. The person on the phone told me they hoped to be open by the end of January, but she didn’t sound too convincing.

this is probably the one attraction i havent been to, is it worth it? also, i saw a person requested pictures taken is that something we can do? where would the tim hortons on clifton hill be?
It’s kind of pricey ($14 or so I think), but it is beautiful. If you take your time and enjoy the surroundings, you could be there for almost an hour.
The Tim Hortons is being built by HOCO. Apparently when you call the Comfort Inn Clifton Hill or the Quality Inn Clifton Hill (both owned by HOCO), some of the call centre reps tell you a Tim Hortons is coming. It is going to be in the new building that they are currently building. One would assume it will do huge business, and since it is open 24/7, they’ll get a lot of business after Rumours and the other clubs close.
If you’d like some pictures taken, just email me or post a comment to a relevant posting and I’ll do my best.
anything from niagara on the lake would be great, gazebo (sp) pic?
Niagara-on-the-Lake is more or less beyond the scope of the Niagara Falls Blog. I don’t go up there much. But if I do and I think there is something relevant, I’ll certainly post about it and/or take pictures.
Actually, thats very true Im sorry I didnt even think of it, my apologies. I guess I just miss the area real bad lol….How about some pics from inside the skylon, marineland, and i will second the motion for Big Anthony’s and Taco N Tequila like the other person said.
**I mean outside marineland in winter
This facility has been fraught with problems. Let’s hope an earthquake doesn’t hit Niagara Falls! I suspect poor engineering in many of the building would stand up.

Thanks for the information Concerned Resident. It is interesting reading.
I hope Mr. Schor’s previous Niagara Falls projects (several hotels) followed proper engineering practices.
From the comments in Mr. Schor’s disciplinary hearing, cross you fingers a powerful earthquake doesn’t hit Niagara Falls Aviary!
I’m amazed the facility can obtain public liability insurance. In the event of a sizeable earthquake, I would suspect the glass ceiling panels supported by thinned structural steel would come crashing down on aviary visitors.
Poor engineering, water break – what’s next for poor Niagara Falls Aviary – West Nile Virus/bird flu mutation?
