I had someone emailing the following:
I was just wondering if you had any information on what happened to the construction of the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Dunn & Stanley? If you happen to know anything about what is happening or what happened to the proposed and half built Crowne Plaza Hotel I would love to hear from you.
I’ve posted about this once, but there has been no progress made since then. Does anyone know what happened?

From what I understand Rudan Holdings was building the Crown Plaza and stopped because they ran out of money. I was told the project went bankrupt. That was around the same time Rudan Holdings bought the Minolta Tower.
so does anyone have any idea what will happen? A very small portion has already been built.
I have no idea what will happen. I drove over there today and there are no signs around or any indication what the problem is. After Louise posted that they are owned by Rudan Holdings, I did a search for information on them and didn’t really find anything.
I’m sure that eventually it will be built, but someone else may end up buying it and finishing it. I believe the Doubletree Resort was delayed because of financing, but it was eventually made.
I think that Intercontinental Hotels Group has finally abandonded their plans for a Crowne Plaza Hotel in Niagara Falls Canada, as it was recently announced that the Days Inn in Niagara Falls USA will be converted into a luxurious Crowne Plaza Hotel. I belive that simply Intercontinental and Crowne Plaza gave up on the Rudan Holding project and decided against a new build and would rather construct a hotel beside the hottest Casino (Seneca) in the Falls area right now. This leaves me with doubts that this hotel will ever be constructed due to the fact that their are much better parcels of land to build hotels on in the Niagara Falls area (Clifton Hill, Skylon Tower, and the Hoco Escarpment). So unfortunately like the Bay-Adelaide Centre in downtown Toronto I think folks from Niagara Falls will be seeing the half built stump of a hotel for a long time.
Thanks Scott! I blogged more about this. You can see it here.
