The Hilton has recently topped out with their new cupola, it is a domed band shell-shaped feature that will be the hotel’s crown. In their renderings they also show a flag pole, so that may actually be the official pinnacle when it is completed, but this has more of an inspiration.

If anyone has been keeping an eye on the Hilton the last little while, the mystery of how they get the cranes off of tall buildings has played out quite nicely. The large construction crane was on top of the hotel throughout it’s construction. A few weeks ago, a smaller crane was brought to the top, and it was used to disassemble and lower the larger one. That one was then used to finish the structural at the top. In the last few days, a very small jib crane has replaced the larger one. I believe that this one will be disassembled by hand, and brought down in an elevator.
Has anyone noticed they have started detailing on the lower level along Fallsview Blvd? I can’t wait to see this all finished. Not to mention on windy days there is a lot of garbage and dirt all over the streets. Just keep your mouth closed if you are in the area.
They’re advertising a June opening. I would imagine that would be lower floors, and they will gradually open higher ones as they’re finished.
