From the Niagara Falls Review:
Ground hasn’t even broken on Niagara’s convention centre, but it’s already drumming up business.
City and regional officials want to land the 2014 annual general meeting of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities as one of its first big events. That convention usually attracts 4,000 delegates. “The revenues to the municipality are substantial,” said David Alexander, a Welland city councillor who has been on FCM’s board for four years. Hosting the FCM meeting could have an economic impact of $4 million.
