From the Niagara Falls Review:
Ontario’s new Family Day was supposed to be mid-winter break for families to spend time together, but it has also turned into a “nice little boost” for Niagara’s tourism industry.
Hotelier Vince Kerrio said reservations coming in at his three hotels were noticeably up for this weekend compared to last year.
“I’m attributing all the business we got on Sunday to the new holiday,” Kerrio said, noting it was mostly Canadian business – a sign Ontarians are turning their three-day weekend into a road trip to Niagara Falls.
“I’m assuming if we’re busy, everybody’s busy.”
