After 71 years, Main Street landmark to close

From the Niagara Falls Review:

“See ya tomorrow for my morning breakfast,” yelled one patron as she walked out of Connie’s Regal Coffee Shop Wednesday morning.

Paddy Hall and Linda Clendennin have heard those seven words for more than 20 years working at the Main Street restaurant.

Those light-hearted demands will be a thing of the past come the weekend.

The shop, unique in its long and narrow entrance leading to some booths at the back, will close Saturday. Connie Sticca, the 78-year-old owner, is calling it a day.

Unique pizza toppings generate bugged-out reactions

From Niagara This Week:

I had no intention of chowing down on creepy crawlies being offered Saturday afternoon at the Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory.

But after witnessing several children chomping on the critters I got up the nerve to take a bite.

A small slice of pizza wouldn’t ordinarily scare me off, however one topped with roasted tomatoes, caramelized onion and scorpion dust was a little intimidating.

It added a somewhat smoky taste to the pizza.

Then came the beetle bonbons.
