Quick response douses Skylon fire

    From the Niagara Falls Review:

A fire at the Skylon Tower late Tuesday night caused $15,000 in damages, but resulted in no injuries to the public.

The Niagara Falls Fire Department and Niagara Regional Police responded to a call at 11:56 p.m. for a fire in the tower’s Summit Dining Room.

When emergency services arrived at the scene, they found the restaurant was unoccupied.

Police said the electrical fire originated from a dishwasher in the kitchen. The fire was quickly extinguished…
George Yerich Jr., vice-president of the Skylon Tower, said the building has a sprinkler system, but Tuesday’s fire was “not severe enough to set it off.”

“We were up and running for our lunch and dinner shifts today (Wednesday),” he said, adding the fire department responded to the late-night fire “very quickly” and were “great to work with.”
