I covered extensively the construction of the new retail store on Clifton Hill, Canada Trading Company. It has been open since late May, and in late June I took a few pictures inside the store, but I forgot to post them. Here are a couple of samples:

This is certainly not the stereotypical tacky souvenir shop. This is a beautiful store with good quality merchandise. There are several skylights in the roof, huge doors at both the front and back, and large archways/beams that go across the ceiling. It’s all quite impressive!
You can see a few more of the pictures I took in the Canada Trading Company in Summer 2006 gallery of the Niagara Falls Image Gallery. As a side note, the Niagara Falls Image Gallery now has 1795 images in 168 categories.
From the Niagara Falls Review:
A fire at the Skylon Tower late Tuesday night caused $15,000 in damages, but resulted in no injuries to the public.
The Niagara Falls Fire Department and Niagara Regional Police responded to a call at 11:56 p.m. for a fire in the tower’s Summit Dining Room.
When emergency services arrived at the scene, they found the restaurant was unoccupied.
Police said the electrical fire originated from a dishwasher in the kitchen. The fire was quickly extinguished…
George Yerich Jr., vice-president of the Skylon Tower, said the building has a sprinkler system, but Tuesday’s fire was “not severe enough to set it off.”
“We were up and running for our lunch and dinner shifts today (Wednesday),” he said, adding the fire department responded to the late-night fire “very quickly” and were “great to work with.”
