NPC unveils new ‘axe’; Totem and Woodcarving Park opened Wednesday

Spongebob Squarepants has moved from his pineapple under the sea in Bikini Bottom to a sunny spot in the Niagara Glen.

Among his neighbours are The Simpsons and Dora the Explorer. Gen. Isaac Brock and several members of his army are just a few steps away.

They’re among 500 wooden carvings created over the past two years by Welland resident Frank Kim, the driving force behind the Niagara Parks Commission’s latest venture, The Niagara Totem and Woodcarving Park, which opened Wednesday.

    This sounds interesting to see. Where exactly is this though?

    I’m not positive, but Niagara Glen is the nature area across from the Whirlpool Golf Course. You can go down into the gorge and hike right down to the river. There is also a picnic area up top, and I assume that this “park” is somewhere around there.

    Sounds like right next to the old Christmas Store. The park beside that store, was fenced off when i was their and had totem polls within the fence.
