Wedding atop the Konica Minolta Tower

I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was attending a wedding at the top of the Konica Minolta Tower. Well, actually, I performed the wedding. I have certain responsibilities with the church I attend, and I am legally authorized to perform marriages in the province of Ontario. It was certainly not the typical wedding that I would perform, but it was very interesting. Here’s how it went…

The “chapel” that is referred to on their site isn’t a chapel area at all. It is actually their observation deck. When people book it for weddings they move out some things and cover up signs and posters. It ends up looking very nice. Since it is a tower the seating area wraps around the centre of the building, essentially in a wide “U” shape.

The groom’s family sits on one side of the “U” and the bride’s family sits on the other side. The officiator stands with his/her back to the centre of the tower and the bride and groom stand close to the window. Apparently this is the optimal setup for photographers.

Of course all of that is up to those who are getting married, but that is generally how it works.

After the wedding we headed upstairs to the Pinnacle Restaurant. The food was excellent. It’s not much of a restaurant. It is essentially just another observation dech with tables and chairs, but it is still very nice.

The view from both the restaurant and observation deck/chapel was amazing. I probably thought the view of the Falls was better than the Skylon Tower. You are up high, but not too high.
