Another in my series on keycards

I recently found this room keycard for a Sheraton hotel. I don’t know if this was for the Sheraton on the Falls or the Four Points by Sheraton (it’s probably not from the Sheraton at the Falls as that is in the US, but you never know).

    From the Buffalo News:

The newest storefront on Old Falls Street opened just in time for the busy Memorial Day weekend.

Hershey’s Sweet Treats opened May 23 in the Sheraton at the Falls, Old Falls and Third streets, in what was an additional seating area for the Starbucks located in the hotel’s ground floor.

The new shop sells candy, ice cream, milkshakes, cupcakes and cookies, items hotel management believes will attract families both staying in the hotel and also just visiting the Falls.

“We felt like it would complement the overall offerings of the hotel,” said Geoffrey Reeds, the hotel’s sales and marketing director.

    From the Buffalo News:

Many people who work and play in downtown Niagara Falls were pleasantly surprised to see a TGI Fridays open in the Sheraton at the Falls hotel in June.

But Faisal Merani saw the move coming. The Canadian hotelier soon announced his own plans to fill a major gap in downtown dining with a key component: more chains.

“We just had one open up, but I think the city could do five or six more without blinking an eye,” Merani recently told the city’s development board.

His plans to attract a chain restaurant to his Holiday Inn at First Street and Buffalo Avenue, along with the DiCienzo family’s renovation of the Sheraton property, has local officials noting advantages and drawbacks of chain restaurants.

The chains also have tourism and development officials pointing at a steadily expanding downtown hotel market that has caught the interest of major developers from Niagara Falls, Ont.

    From the Niagara Gazette:

A family with a long history in Niagara Falls hotels is expanding back into the Cataract City and putting a new face and name on a familiar Third Street fixture.

Under the kind of sunny skies that herald the return of tourist season to the Falls, the DiCienzo family, the owners of Canadian Niagara Hotels Inc., cut the ribbon on their newest New York property, the newly rechristened Sheraton at the Falls.
