I posted a couple of weeks ago about the house on Stanley Avenue by the Macs (near the corner of Ferry Street) that was torn down. It is a very large lot, that I assume will sit empty for quite a while.
A new restaurant opened up recently beside Macs on Ferry St. In the past it was a fortune teller location, but was normally closed and boarded up. It has been renovated and looks quite nice now. It is called Potato Jackets
This building on Ferry St was the former location of Johnny Peppers restaurant. There was a fire several years ago and half the building was destroyed. There was a for sale sign on the lot for a long time, and then yesterday I noticed that it was being demolished.
The Niagara Falls Review also has an article about it.
The former Tony Roma’s at the corner of Ferry St and Ellen Ave, which turned into Pip’s City Diner, is now going to reopen as Chuck’s Roadhouse Bar and Grill. I’ve never heard of it before, but apparently it is a chain.
Back in July you may recall that Bravo Pizzeria + Grill had a fire. They have been closed for 4+ months, but they will be reopening next week. According to their website, it was an electrical fire caused by one of their exterior signs.
From the Niagara Falls Review:
The orange short shorts are making a comeback.
After a three-year absence from Niagara Falls, John Goard, director of operations for Hooters in southern Ontario, said the world-famous restaurant known for its scantily-dressed waitresses is returning.
“Niagara Falls is a major, worldwide tourist market and we need to be there,” said Goard.
An application to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario for a liquor licence was recently approved meaning an opening could happen sometime this spring, Goard said. The restaurant will be on the ground floor of the Baymont Inn on Ferry St.
The former Wild Wing location on Ferry St has been closed for a while. The windows have been covered in paper and there was a small sign on the door that said they were undergoing renovations. It has been closed for quite a while, and I was a little suspicious that they had just closed down with no plans to reopen.
Well, it turns out I was kind of right and kind of wrong. Wild Wing won’t be reopening, but another restaurant will. Hooters is coming back to Niagara Falls. It used to be in the Niagara Freefall building, but closed down a couple of years ago. A Liquor License Application sign on the window of the former Wild Wing location shows that Hooters Niagara Falls will be at that location. It doesn’t say when they will be opening.
I’ve never heard of SeeSight Tours, but apparently they offer tours of Niagara Falls. I saw this display up on Ferry St.
As I posted before, the AAAA Royal Hotel is now the Fallsview Lodge. They modified one of the rooms on the Ferry St side to become a small cafe. It looked like it was almost ready to open, and then the other day I saw a notice on the window. Apparently they did all of the work but didn’t get permits, so they can’t open until permits are obtained and inspections are done.
The AAAA Royal Motel on Ferry St has recently changed its name to the Fallsview Lodge. They are still replacing all of the signs.
