It’s not very good when one of the worst roads in Ontario is in such a major tourism destination…
From Niagara This Week:
This, according to CAA, which on Tuesday released the results of its 2013 Worst Roads List.
This year, just one road in the region cracked the top 10, Stanley Avenue in Niagara Falls, which landed the number 10 spot based on online voting. Last year, the road was named the fourth worst in the province overall, with Bunting Avenue in St. Catharines being named the second worst.
Someone forwarded the latest Winter Festival of Lights newsletter to me. It is kind of long, but has lots of details about events surrounding the festival.
The 30th Annual CAA Winter festival of Lights is fast approaching in Niagara Falls. It begins November 3, 2012 at the Outdoor Stage in Queen Victoria Park. Look for an exciting showcase including performances from your favorite Disney characters and the Festival of Lights Choir.
This year’s festival which is Canada’s foremost illumination festival will run November 3 to January 31, 2013.
There will be over 125 animated lighting displays and 3 million tree and ground lights which will be seen within the Niagara Parks Winder Wonderland.
There is no admission fee but there will be Festival Ambassadors at the exit of Dufferin Island accepting donations. (Suggested contribution $5-$10 per car; $1 per coach bus passenger) with proceeds used to continue this great lighting festival.

On Friday I was out for a walk, and I took these pictures. They are starting to setup for the 2012 CAA Winter Festival of Lights. At first I thought it was kind of early, but it starts November 3, so they only have 1 month to get everything setup.
Over the last couple of days the workers have been out in Queen Victoria Park setting up some of the displays for the Niagara Falls CAA Winter Festival of Lights.
On the one hand, it seems a bit early. On the other hand, it is much better for the workers to be out in this weather, then cold/bitter weather in November/December. The festival opens on November 7th, so they have just over a month to setup.
