Tourism Alliance invests in Nexus

    From Niagara This Week:

The Binational Tourism Alliance is investing in the Nexus program to provide a boost for the region’s struggling tourism industry.

Nexus, which is designed to speed the border clearance process for low-risk, pre-approved travellers into Canada and the U.S., allows carriers to zip past long lines waiting to clear customs on either side of the border.

The problem is, it isn’t very popular, said Arlene White, BTA’s executive director.

“We’re suggesting (to stakeholders) that while we have time, we should make the Nexus program known to more travellers,” she said. “It’s been at the Peace Bridge since 2002 and not a lot of people we talk to know about it.”
