From the Niagara Falls Review:
The city wants two vacancies on the Niagara Parks board of commissioners to be filled by local residents and not “provincial bureaucrats” from outside the region.
“We need people who are stake holders, who have their money in the game, and who know what Niagara Falls tourism is all about to be appointed to the board rather than having somebody who doesn’t have that knowledge, experience and investment in the community,” said Coun. Wayne Thomson.
The city sent a letter to the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport earlier this month, requesting consideration of a motion, tabled by Thomson, to look at local candidates to fill the current vacancies.
