Car-free section of Niagara Parkway on Canada Day

From the Niagara Falls Review:

A portion of the Niagara Parkway will be a car-free zone on Canada Day.

And it could be something the Niagara Parks Commission considers more often.

“I wouldn’t say regular because it’s right in the heart of Queen Victoria Park, it’s sort of the centre, so there are reasons why it can’t happen all of the time, but certainly on special occasions it’s worthy of consideration,” said NPC chairwoman Janice Thomson.

A stretch of the parkway from Clifton Hill to Fraser Hill will be off limits to cars between 7 a.m. and midnight on July 1.

The parks commission encourages visitors to bring their bicycles, enjoy a horse-and-carriage ride and take advantage of the Wego bus service, which will operate on its regular route schedule.
