Niagara Falls ranks high on Chinese bucket list

From the Niagara Falls Review:

Niagara Falls might not be at the top of their list, but they love us in China.

The Pyramids of Giza in Egypt, the Eiffel Tower in France and Venice in Italy are world landmarks that rank higher on the list of places Chinese travellers have on their bucket list, but Niagara Falls on the Canadian side remains a contender in the eighth spot followed by the Acropolis of Athens in Greece and the Sydney Opera House in Australia.

According to global accommodations booking website Hotels.com, Chinese travellers like to see the world and don’t mind spending money along the way.

While Australia, Japan and France are the most desired countries they are expected to visit in the next 12 months, cities like Toronto, Montreal and Niagara Falls are top spots among Chinese travellers.

That latest news comes as no surprise to Niagara Falls Tourism chairman Wayne Thomson.

Up until a year or two ago, he said travel was restricted by the Chinese government, but that has been lifted and we are one of the destinations they want to visit.

  1. WOW and here I thought maybe Pacific Mall and Markham, Ontario would be the number 1 place for Chinese people to visit.
