I’m not sure when this started, but for several years now there has been an annual day for some of the local attractions let locals in for $1 (+ tax I think) and the money is collected for Cystic Fibrosis. This year, the day is Sunday, January 13 from 10 am to 5 pm.
There are more than a dozen attractions that will be participating:
- Ripley’s Believe it or Not!
- Guinness World of Records
- Haunted House
- Brick City
- House of Frankenstein
- Criminal Hall of Fame
- Rock Legends Wax Museum
- Tussaud’s Waxworks
- Movieland Wax Museum
- Fun House
- Cosmic Coaster
- Ghost Blasters Dark Ride
- Bronto’s Adventure Playland
- Mystery Maze
To get the $1 price, you must have proof of Niagara Falls residence.

Is this only for residents with a Niagara Falls address – or Niagara Region address similar to the Sleep Cheap event?
I’m not sure. I’ve only ever participated once, and I went with someone who lives in Niagara Falls (I don’t). In one place I’ve seen information saying it is the region, in another place it says the city.
IMO they should offer this event to the tourist.
I agree. They do this in the middle of January, so there aren’t many tourists there. If they brave the winter weather, why not get the deal? Plus, it’s for a good cause!
Graham, this is the 18th year for this, and everything I’ve seen so far says Niagara Falls residents. I did go one year and it was very busy. If that was just NFers, it would be absolutely insane if it was the whole region.
same boundaries as Sleep Cheap thing right?
I’m disappointed it is not including other residents of the region. I’ve lived in the falls but am now in St. Catharines. Myself and my gf goto clifton hill once in a while to have a night out and would certianly like to check out a few other attractions without being gouged like usual.
exactly, i enjoy clifton hill as much as any other person, but the prices are just too expensive for me to walk through museums.
I’m back in Hamilton.
Id say out of that entire list Criminal HOF is the best beccause its so unique. Tussads running a close second.
i’ve never been to the Criminals HOF. I’ve been to Tussaud’s, which is my definite favourite, with Ripley’s Museum behind it. I’ve never been to the 3 haunted type things, brick city, guinness records, or movieland. All because of prices.
But maybe they change that Frankenstein eating a Hamburger to him with a severed head. I find that the hamburger is not scary, but quite, quite comical. It’s making small kids think it won’t be scary.
never been to rock legends, mystery maze, bronto’s, cosmic coaster or ghost blasters, same reason: prices.
Ive been to all of em (except Bronto’s) but I don’t stay at expensive hotels so I have more $$$ for other stuff. I honestly think Ive stayed at 55 or more hotels in the Niagara region, how crazy is that!? But I decided a while ago I wouldn’t pay high prices for hotels because it isnt worth it unles Im staying more than 3 days.
Tussads is nice, but I was more of a fan before it closed in 2000. The torture chamber was a great little feature in the basement. I also liked the political wing. The haunted houses in the area are all pretty much the same. Ripley’s is nice and clean.
Ripley’s believe it or not was definitely a great addition to the hill, i think it attracts more people than all the haunted places put together.
We’ve done this for yrs. Myself and three kids 15,14,& 8.
It’s busy and for some attractions the line-ups are 1/2 hr or more. The moving theatre type attractions are packed and Ripleys is so busy that you have to move thru when the crowd moves thru. Spiderman and the Ghost Blaster ride at the arcade is madness with roped of lines like disneyworld. I do understand the want for folks from all over wanting to save money on the attractions but we sort of look at it as a payback day for those of us who put up with the traffic etc thru the tourist times. If you live here in the falls you don’t really get to take advantage of attractions in your own town reasonably very often, and when we do we usually get a drizzly rainy day in January.
Different types of I.D. are accepted. I’ve seen folks use mail, student I.D., health card, and one woman had a note from one attraction manager to “whom it may concern” because she had forgotten her I.D.
The Aviary, the Skylon and the Pirate movie beside the skylon use to participate too but I guess not anymore.
At Clifton Hill .com the list of participating attractions also include ~
Motorcycle museum
Spider man
Hulk Mini-golf
MGM movie Journey
Legend of the White Horse
Dino Island
Deep Sea.
If I remember correctly the last three on this list are a package type movie ride deal which you get tickets together for $3. It’s across the street from Wendy’s at the bottom of the Hill and we have found it best to get there early as a line forms quickly.
My older children have had their hands “waxed” at Ripleys on this CF day for a reduced price also. Ripleys closes earlier that 5pm though (3pm ??) and the waxed hand discount also ends even earlier than that.
you know, 2 things us hamilton people have been left out of, but really we are only 35 mins away.
