From the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle:
Mommy, come into the jungle room with me,” squealed my 4-year old. I had to admit that with the palms, cactus and warm-weather plants, the tropical room at the Niagara Parks Floral Showcase looked more like a jungle than like Canada in winter.
Located about a half-mile south of the cataracts in Niagara Falls, Ontario, the Floral Showcase may be one of the tourist town’s best deals. Admission is always free, and in winter the parking is free, too.
From the Niagara Falls Review:
After a day spent promoting Niagara’s wonders to New Yorkers during Ontario Week - part of Canada Month in Manhattan’s Bryant Park in December - Niagara Falls Tourism general manager Anna Pierce is on the lookout for ideas she can bring back to Niagara Falls that will keep travellers spending once they get here.
A widespread program offering discounts to domestic and international travellers is one of them.
“I’d like to see something like this offered in many of the stores and attractions in Niagara Falls,” Pierce says.
From the Niagara Falls Review:
Sitting inside Celsius restaurant, Anna Pierce looks out on the crowd at Bryant Park.
It has been a busy morning at the 3.2-hectare midtown Manhattan greenspace behind the New York public library on 42nd Street and Sixth Avenue and it is about to get busier.
Niagara Falls Tourism’s general manager has had an exhausting weekend in the Big Apple and there’s nearly a full week left to go.
Her mission: Convince New Yorkers to take a pass on weekends in Montreal or the Laurentians this winter and visit Niagara Falls for a mini-break instead.
