City historian turns to local waters for subject matter of latest book

From the Niagara Falls Review:

While he normally focuses on Niagara Falls, city historian and author Sherman Zavitz plunged into deeper waters this time around for his sixth book.

“The Niagara River - The Ontario Shore” will be released today and features a photographic history of the river from Fort Erie to Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Filled with more than 170 photographs and engravings, the book traces the history of the river from the late 1800s to the early 1900s.

“It’s a pretty good representation on how things used to be. It shows different aspects of life along the river,” Zavitz said.

Frewin theatre hosts show for needy

From the Niagara Falls Review:

About 150 clients of Project Share will have a special holiday treat Tuesday, when they are invited to a show at the Greg Frewin Theatre. “I have gone through my share of challenges getting this theatre started and I see families going through their own challenges in their lives. It is the generosity that I experienced that made the difference in my life, and I can only hope that this evening will be one of those moments for these families,” Frewin said.
