Chinese tourism onslaught stalled; Tourism officials wait as talks hit roadblock

From the Niagara Falls Review:

Anxious to attract new visitors, tourism marketers in Niagara Falls aren’t waiting for the Chinese government to grant Canadian destinations permission to market to the country’s 1.3 billion people.

“(We) can’t market to the Chinese citizens, but we can market to the trade partners,” said Anna Pierce, manager of Niagara Falls Tourism. “We can’t speak to the Chinese consumers, but we can speak to the trades. We’re doing as much as we are allowed to do to promote Canada.”
