The former Wild Wing location on Ferry St has been closed for a while. The windows have been covered in paper and there was a small sign on the door that said they were undergoing renovations. It has been closed for quite a while, and I was a little suspicious that they had just closed down with no plans to reopen.
Well, it turns out I was kind of right and kind of wrong. Wild Wing won’t be reopening, but another restaurant will. Hooters is coming back to Niagara Falls. It used to be in the Niagara Freefall building, but closed down a couple of years ago. A Liquor License Application sign on the window of the former Wild Wing location shows that Hooters Niagara Falls will be at that location. It doesn’t say when they will be opening.
As was mentioned a month ago, the Rick Mercer Report was recently in Niagara Falls. A segment was filmed at Niagara Freefall Indoor Skydiving with Rick Mercer and Alex Lifeson of Rush. You can see a video of the broadcast on the CBC web site and see some screenshots below:
From the Niagara Falls Review:
When it came time for their ‘man date,’ Canadian comic Rick Mercer and rock legend Alex Lifeson went straight to the Honeymoon Capital.
The odd couple were in town Wednesday filming a segment for The Rick Mercer Report, donning flappy flight gear to tackle the Niagara Freefall Indoor Skydiving challenge.
With cameras rolling, the duo floated atop 225 km/h winds generated by a jet engine at the Stanley Avenue attraction.
From a PRWeb press release (via Yahoo! News):
The most thrilling Niagara Falls attractions have a home on Fallsview Boulevard, a bustling area with Fallsview hotels, nightclubs and more just 500 yards from the Mighty Falls. This summer, Skylon Tower, the IMAX Niagara, and Niagara Freefall have been joined by yet another gripping Fallsview attraction – the new Daredevil Gallery located within the IMAX Niagara.
Yesterday’s link to a post by “Canada’s Adventure Couple”, was followed up with this one:
Last week I wrote a post about a short business trip to Niagara Falls. We shot some segments for a TV show that I work on overlooking the falls and we went to the Journey Behind the Falls to film a few segments under the Niagara River with the mighty waterfalls thundering in front of us and we shot our host indoor skydiving at Niagara Freefall.
It reminded me just how much I love visiting this town less than 2 hours from Toronto. There is so much to do and you can always find new attractions opening every year.
