    Wingate by Wyndham nets $980K state grant

    The state is continuing its investment in downtown Niagara Falls with a $980,000 grant to a hotelier.

    Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office announced the incentive package, set to be awarded to Plati Niagara Inc. for its $10.2 million Wingate by Wyndham hotel project in a press release Thursday.

    Another new hotel project is in the works in downtown Niagara Falls.

    This time, a Grand Island hotelier plans to turn a long vacant office building located at 452 Third Street into a boutique hotel offering 11 rooms.

    A vacant Niagara Falls building that once housed Moore Business Forms is being eyed as the site of new hotel.

    That, and another Cataract City hotel is due for a major face lift.

    Indian Ocean LLC, a company run by local hotelier B.F. Patel, is working with the Niagara County Industrial Development Agency on renovating the three-story former Moore Business Forms office – at the intersection of Buffalo Avenue and John Daly Boulevard (Quay Street) – into a 95-room Courtyard by Marriott hotel. The project carries a $6.65 million development price tag.

    Niagara Gazette — Niagara Falls may have another 100 hotel rooms soon.

    The Niagara County Industrial Development Agency expects to receive an application for assistance for consideration from hotelier Ali Rizek, who intends to build a Comfort Inn on an empty lot at 6115 Niagara Falls Blvd. at their monthly meeting this morning.

    The Rizek family owns the Econoldge next door and has been in the hotel business for more than 30 years, according to a press release from the agency.
