From the Niagara Falls Review:

The King of Rock n’ Roll takes centre stage at the Scotiabank Convention Centre this week for a worthy cause.

Blue Suede Shoes: The King, The Colonel, The Memories, runs Feb. 14 through 19 at the Stanley Avenue facility.

The musical biography, told through the eyes of Elvis’ business manager, Colonel Tom Parker, details Elvis’ humble beginnings at Sun Records to the Hollywood years and on to the flamboyant Las Vegas residency.

“This is a major production,” said organizer Ken Lamb. “People are going to see an outstanding musical about the life and times of one of the world’s most iconic performers.”

Reynolds, Dawson to film in Falls

From WIVB Channel 4 in Buffalo:

Hollywood is invading Niagara Falls. Actor Ryan Reynolds and Rosario Dawson are going to be filming the movie “Queen of the Night.”

I know this is old news, but I saw the contradiction and wanted to point it out. Both the headline and the first sentence indicate that Ryan Reynolds was going to be in Niagara Falls. The the last paragraph says, “If you were hoping to catch Reynolds in action, you’re too late. All of the heartthrob’s scenes have already been shot in Toronto and other parts of Canada.” So was he going to be in Niagara Falls or not? 🙂

Movie shoot news to city

From the Niagara Gazette:

Published reports about plans to shoot another motion picture in the Falls came as news to Mayor Paul Dyster on Thursday.

Although an article appearing in The Hollywood Reporter suggested the American side of the Falls would serve as the backdrop for an upcoming film featuring Dennis Hopper, Dyster said, at this point, the city has not been approached about the project.

“As of right now, there have been no requests to film on the U.S. side,” Dyster said in reference to “A Beginner’s Guide to Endings,” a film The Hollywood Reporter described as a dark comedy penned by Jonathan Sobol, a writer with roots in the Western New York area.

Dyster said it was his understanding that filming related to the project may be done nearby, but that the work would likely occur at locations in Niagara Falls, Ont.
