From the Niagara Falls Review:
It was once the home of the Happy Wanderer Restaurant, a valuable piece of property right in the heart of the tourism district in Niagara Falls, that has been closed for years.
The Stanley Ave., property, which is within walking distance of the Fallsview Casino and many of the larger hotels, has been sold to a local entrepreneur who is restoring it back to being a restaurant.
I noticed this yesterday when I was out. The Happy Wanderer, a German-themed restaurant on Stanley Avenue is for sale. This could have been for sale for a while, I don’t know. My best guess is it was back in June or July, based on the dates on recent reviews.
I’ve never been, but the reviews I’ve read online were always very complimentary. It appears to be closed. A reviewer on Google Maps said that they were “closed by receivers”, as does the sign (“court appointed receiver”).
Sometime last year the Happy Wanderer on Stanley Avenue (across from the new Hilton expansion) closed it doors and was taken over by the bank. A company/team was then put together to try and bring this place back to life with interior upgrades, in the hopes of rejuvenating this establishment. Unfortunately the bank canceled the project and recently put the building up for sale.
