This is the Niagara Falls Review’s summary of the year 2016. This isn’t all tourism-related, but obviously has some things highlighted.

    From the Niagara Falls Review:

    • The numbers are in for attendance at the city’s annual New Year’s Eve extravaganza at Queen Victoria Park. Organizers said 35,000 people attended the free concert featuring Tom Cochrane, Alan Doyle and Down With Webster. It was the first concert in many years not to have been televised.

    From Niagara Falls Review:

With Queen Victoria Park filling up and fireworks about to go off, Alan Doyle took a moment to soak it all in New Year’s Eve.

The former Great Big Sea singer was making his fourth appearance at the annual concert, and it’s among his favourite gigs.

“I always think of Niagara Falls as like a Canadian Times Square,” he said. “I’m so grateful they asked me back, it means a lot to me to do it.”

It was a sentiment shared by Dennis DeYoung and Tom Cochrane, also making repeat visits to a concert that may have lost its TV coverage this year but still had thousands of bundled up fans show up for the event’s 25th year.

It’s disappointing this won’t be on TV. I’ve never gone down to the park to see anything live, but we always watch it.

    From Niagara This Week:

Canadian content will be king at Niagara Falls for New Year’s Eve.

The Niagara Parks Commission and the City of Niagara Falls, along with its other New Year’s Eve partners unveiled the lineup for this year’s Dec. 31 event, set to take place in Queen Victoria Park.

Down With Webster will kick off the event, followed by Great Big Sea frontman Alan Doyle. The show continues with Dennis DeYoung, founding member of famed rock group Styx while Canadian rock icon Tom Cochrane and Red Rider close out the night.
