It seems like there is always something going on…

These signs are located on several of the buildings on the south side of Clifton Hill (Kelsey’s, Great Canadian Midway, Movieland). In case you can’t read the sign, it states the following:

a 28-storey tall hotel near the south end of the lands and a midway and amusement complex, with a ferris wheel, 2 roller coasters and various smaller rides and attractions, south of Clifton Hill
Additional information and a copy of the written notice available by contacting the planning & development department

I don’t expect to be going to this meeting, but if I hear anything, I’ll be sure to post it.

While I was walking yesterday at lunch, I took a lot of pictures. There are now 724 images in 72 galleries. The main thing was that I took a lot of pictures of restaurants. It seems like Niagara Falls has a restaurant every other store front. I’ve taken pictures of Wolfgang Puck Restaurant (it seems to be open now), restaurants along Ferry Street / Victoria Avenue, and more.

What is 4D anyway?

Motion simulator rides seem to be a popular thing in Niagara Falls. It is essentially a roller coaster experience in a confined space. In Niagara Falls there are at least the following simulator rides:

  • Ripley’s Moving Theater
  • FX Thrill Ride featuring “Robots of Mars” and “Cosmic Coaster”
  • Dino Rampage
  • Dino Island 3D
  • Skylon 4D Theatre featuring “Pirates”

I used to think that 4D (the forth dimension) was time. Apparently in the simulator ride industry, it means something entirely different. The seats move in 3 dimensions (up/down, side to side, forward and back). The movie is in 3 dimensions (you wear glasses of some kind). And the 4 dimension is actually some other scensory experience. It may be wind or it may be very light precipitation (mist or snow). I’ve only been on a 2D simulator. I will be going to the Ripley’s Moving Theater soon and I’ll report back on how it was.

I know I mentioned the AccessNiagara.com Image Gallery before, but there is so much more to say.

I am done putting up all the photos I have from the last few years, and there are currently 48 categories and over 650 images!

There are pictures of St. Catharines, Ball’s Falls, and Other Niagara Region Attractions. But by far the largest section is devoted to Niagara Falls. There are over 300 photos of attractions or scans of their brochures. The attractions include:

  • Brick City
  • Classic Iron Motorcycle Museum
  • Dinosaur Park Miniature Golf
  • Falls Tower Ride
  • Fun House
  • The Haunted House
  • Movieland
  • Mystery Maze
  • Niagara Falls Aviary
  • Ripley’s Believe It or Not
  • Ripley’s Moving Theatre
  • Winter Festival of Lights

And there is over 150 photos of Scenic Niagara Falls and along the Niagara Parkway.

The gallery lets you save images for download, and you can also create e-cards out of any image. Be sure to check it out at http://www.accessniagara.com/gallery/

I have no way to prove this, but I assume that AccessNiagara.com has the largest collection of Niagara Falls and area pictures. And it’s only going to grow!
