  1. Graham,

Has any of your loyal followers stayed at the doubletree? i am looking to branch out from the Courtyard by Marriott. the courtyard is just off the main drag which makes me feel safe, but the Doubletree is a street back and seems more secluded somehow. what do you (your followers) think? it’s actually cheaper than the Marriott for the time frame i’m looking to visit.

    1. Hey Karen, I’ve stayed at the Doubletree a couple of times, and love it. I’ve always been on the top floor, and the view was fine from there. I can’t speak about the view from lower floors. The food was a little pricey, but excellent.

  2. I have stayed at the Doubletree in the past.

I found the rooms a little on the small side. The beds were comfortable. I got the breakfast $16.00 on the high side but the food was good. A little tidbit if you are planning on paying for a room with a view DON’T. There is not much to see only the river – Do not pay for a view. And I splurged on the AVEDA for a facial and it was undescribable and pampering.

  3. Thank you lisa!

Yeah…”river view” isn’the same as “falls view”. When I stayed at the courtyard for the first time, I dubbed our room a “mist view” because that’s all you could see. I don’t think they differentiate prices there, though.

  4. I am glad I could help. We are actually entertaining my Aunt and her boyfriend from New Jersey once their passports get to them and the Maid of the Mist opens. Thinking about venturing to a new hotel to try. We stayed the majority of our trips at the Quality Inn – Clifton Hill and after that was torn down. We try to stay at different hotels to decide which ones are worth repeating. Our next choices are Comfort Inn, Country Inn or Hampton Inn – Victoria Avenue. If anyone has any input on those three I would really appreciate your input.

  5. Hey Folks,
If we can help out as the actual hotel’s response, please consider the following: Niagara Falls as a city, tourist core -is pretty safe, with 12 million visitors per year. You have to take into consideration any business within a mile of the casino and there are two in Niagara – have extra regional police presence, we have our local Niagara Regional police, plus Canada Customs at the border, the Niagara Parks Police (the parklands around the Falls)and RCMP. The Doubletree actually has a sub police office off the Doubletree lobby for the local police to stop in. The Doubletree is relatively small with 220 rooms, so it offers more of a relaxed resort feel. Generally when comparing hotels take into consideration their CAA/AAA diamond rating to ensure you are comparing “like” quality hotels. We hope you select the Doubletree, but either way – safe travels to Niagara.

  6. Karen, the Doubletree isn’t as secluded as you think. It’s bordered by Fallsview Ave. Stanley and Robinson. Fallsview is more quiet on that end as oppossed to in front of the Casino but Stanley is a very busy road as you probably know.

You should feel 100% comfortable walking around the Doubletree as you would any other property in the tourist area. All of Niagara Falls, especially the tourist area, is very safe.
