From the Niagara Falls Review:
The Pan Am Games might spur changes to the long-term transit plans for the Golden Horseshoe.
While some say certain projects should be moved up the priority list to be completed in time for the games, others critical of the idea of using diesel trains for the Union-Pearson Rail Link, say the games should be a catalyst to electrify that line from the get-go.
Yesterday, Transportation Minister Jim Bradley said changing the long-term transit plan because of the Pan Am Games, which will span the entire region from Niagara Falls to Oshawa, is possible, but he wouldn’t commit to additional funding.
