Outdoor skating rink to open Nov. 23 at ‘brink’ of Horseshoe Falls

From a Canadian Press article found at Yahoo! Canada News:

A new public skating rink will open next month “a stone’s throw from the brink of the Horseshoe Falls,” say organizers of the Niagara Falls Winter Festival of Lights.

The outdoor Rink at the Brink, two-thirds the size of an NHL rink, will be located across from the newly renovated Table Rock Centre and offer excellent views of the Falls, says a release.

It will be open daily between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. from Nov. 23 to Feb. 28. Skates and helmets will be available for rent, and skating lessons will also be offered.

Admission without skate rental is $8 for adults, $5.75 for children.

“We think it’s going to be a huge hit with both local residents and visitors to Niagara Falls,” said festival chair Joe Miszk.

  1. KM, this is what the WFOL site says about parking:

“Variable rate paid parking is available throughout the winter. Free parking is available at the Falls Parking lot after the following hours:

November: 5:30pm Sundays to Thursdays, 7pm Fridays and 7:30pm Saturdays

December: 5:30pm Sundays to Fridays and 7:30pm Saturdays, all day December 25

January and February: 4pm Sundays to Fridays and 5:30pm Saturdays

Free parking does not apply U.S. Thanksgiving Day and December 26 through January 1. “

  3. Sue, Drafty is right. I have parked for free at Table Rock numerous times during the winter months. I’m cheap and never pay for parking. On many occasions I have gone for a winter night time walk along the parkway.
