Overrated Tourist Traps Around the World – Clifton Hill, Niagara Falls

MSN Travel has a section on Overrated Tourist Traps Around the World, and mentions Clifton Hill (with a picture):

Niagara Falls is quite possibly one of the most beautiful natural wonders of the world. However, we are left to wonder why, exactly, the Clifton Hill strip exists within blocks from this breathtaking attraction…

  1. My Niagara Falls Top Ten

Take it from a local and author of The Day the Falls Stood Still: There is lots of cool stuff to do in Niagara Falls. Most of it’s free, and plenty of it’s good for you.

  2. Hmmm! Interesting, though quite snobbish, article. On the one hand, they complain that at most of the world attractions listed there is nothing else to do once you’ve seen it. They then ask “we are left to wonder why, exactly, the Clifton Hill strip exists within blocks from this breathtaking attraction”. Well, duh!!
They also state “Even if you decide to brave staying in one of the run-down motels on this strip to save some dough”. I guess that would be the Comfort Inn or Travelodge and I don’t think they would be considered either run down or cheap.
Basically another stupid, factless article by someone with too much time on their hands.

    1. Obviously the author has never seen Clifton hill. It is lots of fun and has plenty of interesting things to do and see. Of course it’s not the library. It’s Clifton Hill not the Opera House.
It’s a positive thing to have somewhere to go that is fun since we have plenty of opportunities here in Niagara Falls to see top entertainment and to be educated! Balance is what makes life good. It is possible to go to Clifton Hill and spend nothing. There is plenty of activity.

As for the, and I quote, “Run down hotels on Clifton Hill” I’m sure that the Travelodge or the Comfort Inn suitable for most of us and for the record they are not cheap!!

There is plenty to do in Niagara Falls. Come on down and take a look.

  3. Considering that the writer also slammed the Eifel Tower, the Mona Lisa, the leaning tower of Pisa and Stonhenge ( just to name a few ) I figure Niagara is in good company.

The “Street of Fun” Clifton Hill is such a small part of the whole Niagara experience it’s almost laughable that it is highlighted to make Niagara look negative.
