I know this was mentioned before in a comment, I am just not sure who commented about it. This however will be another blow to the tourist industry if this does come to fruition.

From the Niagara Falls Review

For sale – world’s biggest birdhouse. Bird Kingdom, the award-winning aviary on River Road, could move from Niagara Falls partly because its owner says its property taxes are too high.

“I guess we lost our appetite for Niagara Falls because of the way the tax structure is. It makes it very difficult to do business,” said Larry Vann, a Niagara-on-the-Lake businessman who created the Niagara Falls aviary on River Road about five years ago.

Vann has put up for sale the River Road building that has housed the attraction since it opened in 2003, though he said the aviary is a viable business and will carry on. Other factors also went into the decision to list the building.

“The attraction doesn’t generate the revenue to warrant staying here,” he said in an interview Monday.

What a shame it would be to see the business in the building there end. Going to the Bird Kingdom is always one of our first stops when we visit the area, we have never come without going through and no matter how many times we do, are always in awe of how beautifully it is set up. The Birds seem to flit around so happily, the sounds of the big waterfall and bird songs, the awesome Java Hut in the middle of it all where we always stop for a break and a frozen smoothie. And always stopping behind the waterfall to take each others photo. :)

When I list my favorite things about Niagara Falls, that is always at the very top of the list.

Wow, I sure will miss it all if it is eventually gone. I will be watching for news and hoping that whomever buys the building buys the business along with it so it can remain.

I agree… I think it is a fantastic attraction. The building shape/size lent itself very well for the setup. Hopefully something works out!

yeah it was me who mentioned it….. I am so sad about this, I sure hope a solution is found to keep this incredible attraction in the city!
