Selling region key to luring big conventions to Niagara

    Because Niagara is rich in its range of experiences, promoters for the city’s new convention centre are hoping to lure in big conventions by selling the region, even before construction begins.

    Dragan Matovic, the project coordinator for the Niagara Convention and Civic Centre, introduced a team of consultants, hired guns from marketing and advertising firms in Toronto and the U.S. at a stakeholders meeting Jan. 21.

    The consultants will be charged with crafting and telling the story of not only Niagara Falls but of the region over the next few months to meeting planners, the decision-makers for large, national organizations.
