Another scapegoat for the ‘perfect storm’ list

    From the Niagara Falls Review:

Good morning and welcome to Economics 101. Who’s familiar with the “subprime mortgage crisis” in the United States?

Get used to hearing that phrase. It’s this year’s SARS – the latest on a growing list of economic conditions that have hurt Niagara’s tourism industry…

Tourism operators often look at 2001 (prior to Sept. 11) as one of the last good years before the “perfect storm” setbacks began.

But when condition after condition, world event after world event, seem to conspire against tourism, maybe the industry isn’t in a storm.

    Maybe that’s the new normal.
