Biography of hotelier written for his family

    From the Niagara Falls Review:

Conrad Hilton’s memoir about going from the owner of a small hotel in a Texas oil town to the owner of a global hotel chain has little to do with Vince DiCosimo Sr.’s decision to write his own memoir.

True, DiCosimo – known to his employees as “Mr. D” – owns one of Conrad Hilton’s hotels. But the similarity stops there.

If Hilton’s reason for penning “Be My Guest” in 1957 was to impart his wisdom on making it big, DiCosimo says his motivation to write “‘Mr. D.’ Una Bella Vita” was quite the opposite.

“You know what? It wasn’t done for people,” DiCosimo said during an interview in the 33rd-floor Watermark restaurant at the Niagara Falls Hilton.

“If I wanted it for the people, I’d sell it. But I want to leave something in writing for my kids and grand kids.”
