As has been documented in the past, the building across from Galaxy Golf on Clifton Hill is undergoing renovations. It used to have the Hilltop Hotel, the Pilgrim Restaurant, and a jewelry store. As you can see by the picture, everything is closed and covered up. Depending on the angle from the street, you can tell that the rooms are all empty, and that the upstairs at least has been gutted.
Of course the rumour is that there will be an East Side Mario’s and/or a McDonald’s going in. I have absolutely no inside information on this, but my guess would be that it definitely won’t be both. I also think the franchise fees for McDonald’s would be too high, so an East Side Mario’s would be more likely. However, given that there is no parking for it, I can’t see that happening either. It wouldn’t surprise me if something entirely different goes in. I guess only time will tell…
