Falling For Niagara

This is an interesting article from a Malaysian web site:

If there’s anywhere to find a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow, it’s Niagara Falls. Home to the most resplendent of rainbows, so beautiful yet so close you could almost touch them.

Globetrotter KENNY T paints a colourful spectrum of the sights, rides and romantic nights at one of the world’s great wonders of the “natural” world. Naturally, it’s wonderful.

The article highlights the Hilton, Fallsview Casino, Clifton Hill, Skylon Tower, Marvel Adventure City, and the Horseshoe and American Falls.

Attraction a heart-stopper

From Niagara This Week:

After a year and a half of construction, Canada’s first Great Wolf Lodge has arrived.

All 406 rooms of the $130 million resort were filled for its official opening Friday, giving the head wolf a sheepish grin.

“The best part is watching the kids’ faces when they walk in the door,” said Great Wolf Lodge general manager Keith Simmonds. “It lets you know you did it right.”

“They stop in their tracks, their eyes pop open and then they run to the nearest animal or feature. We had one little girl stand in the lobby she was frozen in her tracks and she said, ‘Mummy, feel my heart.’”

Three years of planning and construction finally paid off for Jim Pattison, the Vancouver billionaire who owns the massive new attraction on the corner of River Road and Victoria Avenue. Reporters and camera crews followed his every step during a media sneak peak of the facility Thursday.

“It exceeded my expectations,” he said. “It turned out better than I thought it would.”

Niagara Falls State Park

Several weeks ago my family went “over the river” to mail something off at a USPS location. While we were over there, I wanted to check out Niagara Falls Stake Park. It’s beautiful!

I know Spring is here, and people don’t want to think about winter, but I have some great pictures of both the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls with the ice and mist around them. You can see the pictures in the Niagara Falls Gallery

Niagara Falls offers breathtaking power

From My Web Times:

…there is no single waterfall actually named “Niagara Falls.”

Originating at the east end of Lake Erie, the Niagara River flows about 21 miles north from Buffalo, N.Y., to Niagara Falls, N.Y.

Here, the river forms three waterfalls, divided by a landmass known as Goat Island.

On the island’s east side, the 184-foot tall American Falls combine with the smaller Bridal Veil Falls to stretch 1,060 feet from the mainland to Goat Island.

On the west side, the 2,600-foot long Horseshoe Falls, or Canadian Falls — the 175-foot-tall, roughly U-shaped cascade commonly photographed as “Niagara Falls” — plummets into the 185-foot-deep Niagara Basin.

Collectively, these three are what most refer to as Niagara Falls.
