Carmen’s one of organizers to bring ‘new circus’ to Niagara

    From the Hamilton Mountain News:

The circus is coming to the Golden Horseshoe.

It’s one that has never been seen by North American eyes, promised Michael Burgess, renowned for his role as Jean Valjean in ‘Les Miserables.’

Mr. Burgess, along with Hamilton business representatives, politicians and Niagara Parks Commission officials announced the creation of Cirque Niagara, which will be at the Rapidsview Park, beside Marineland.

“It’s a revolutionary form of theatre entertainment,” said Mr. Burgess, who hosted the media event last week at the Doubletree Inn in Niagara Falls. “It’s not Cirque du Soleil. It’s a brand new circus.”

The $10 million production will open May 20 for two shows a day, six days a week until Oct. 8 under a 60,000-square-foot big top. Show times will be at 5 and 8 p.m.
