From WGRZ Channel 2 in Buffalo:

While Western New Yorkers are still enjoying the warmth of summer, the City of Niagara Falls is looking for some fun new outdoor activities to offer to residents and visitors this winter — especially those that involve ice skating.

On Monday, the Niagara Falls Community Development Department released a news release requesting winter outdoor activity providers to come forward with ideas for three downtown lots. They would like each idea submitted via a Request for Proposal (RFP), which can be accessed here: www.nf-cd.org/rfp

From the Niagara Falls Review:

The Niagara Parks Commission has issued a formal Request for Proposals to the planning, architectural and landscape architectural consultant community to help develop a renewed master plan that will become the provincial agency’s blueprint for the future.

The purpose of the master plan is to guide continued development, programming and management of Niagara Parks lands within the Queen Victoria Park area while also protecting and preserving the natural and historic features within the area, said Janice Thomson, chairwoman of the Niagara Parks Commission.

Under the RFP, the Queen Victoria Park area is defined as Niagara Parks lands between the Rainbow Bridge and Kingsbridge Park in Chippawa.

Boat tour procurement process ‘free from any apparent bias’: Fairness commissioner

From the Niagara Falls Review:

The Niagara Parks Commission has been fair, open and transparent so far in a procurement process that will eventually lead to the selection of an organization to operate boat tours in the Niagara gorge, says a government-appointed fairness commissioner.

In the first of what is expected to be four reports, Howard Grant, the fairness commissioner who was appointed by the provincial government to observe, monitor and oversee the procurement process, said the request for proposal was “complete and consistent with best procurement policies and free from any apparent bias.”

According to Grant, the RFP was open to all proponents, not only those that were pre-registered.

NPC on target for boat tour competition

From the Niagara Falls Review:

The document that will spell out what the Niagara Parks Commission wants from a boat tour provider is on target for release in the next few weeks, says commission general manager John Kernahan.

“It’s coming along very well. I think we’re going to be on or very close to our target of late July or early August to release the RFP (request for proposals),” Kernahan said.

But Bill Mocsan, the consultant hired by the provincial government to help guide the parks commission through the process, wouldn’t say when the document will be issued.

He said Monday telling The Review might allow one bidder to find out sooner than another.

Eleven companies took part in an April session to find out more about the bidding process, though it doesn’t mean all of them will submit bids when the parks commission issues its request for proposals.
