Niagara Falls council wants ‘flawed’ casino RFP process stopped

    From Niagara This Week:

The city plans to explore all “available legal avenues” with the hopes of getting the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) to halt the process of procuring a new operator for Casino Niagara and Fallsview Casino Resort.

At a special council meeting on June 22, council voted unanimously in support of a resolution that refers to OLG’s request for proposals (RFP) process as “flawed” with its emphasis on revenue for the province, while ignoring economic development and job creation.

According to a report completed by HLT consultants on behalf of the City, the OLG’s plan could result in the loss of up to 1,400 jobs at the two casinos.

Occasionally I come across an article that I just have to share…

Did you know that there were alien orbs floating over Niagara Falls recently? 🙂

From The Canadian – Agora Cosmopolitan:

On 12 April 2016, UFO specialised website MUFON.com received an anonymous report on the sighting of “three orbs” hovering above the Niagara Falls. “I came out of work and I was walking to drop off my cash”, the unnamed observer related. “Then I looked up and saw that there were three orbs over the falls hovering”, he reported.

He also said that these orbs were of “a glowing yellowish orange colour”. He watched the lights for “about 5 minutes”.

From WGRZ Channel 2 in Buffalo (including video):

Five years ago, 2 On Your Side’s Scott Brown produced an Emmy-award winning special that comparied Niagara Falls, New York with Niagara Falls, Canada.

At that time, we reported how on our side of the Falls, decades of bad decisions, inaction by out of town developers, and a lack of focus on tourism had left Niagara Falls, New York destitute and with few tourist attractions.

We decided to go back to the Falls to see what’s changed, and what has not over these last five years.

In the first of two reports, Scott looks at what changes for the better have happened over these last five years.
