Speaking of daredevils and the risks they take…

    From Niagara This Week:

A man who survived a plunge over Niagara Falls without protection in 2003 has died after he went over again, this time inside an inflatable ball.

Police tell the Syracuse Post-Standard the body of 53-year-old Kirk R. Jones was found in the Niagara River by the U.S. Coast Guard on June 2.

Detective Sgt. Brian Nisbet of the New York State Park Police says it’s the same man who became the first person to survive an unprotected plunge over the falls in October 2003.

Nisbet says investigators believe Jones attempted to go over the falls inside a three-meter ball on April 19.

Niagara Falls latest natural wonder to add zip line

    From CBS News:

Niagara Falls is the latest natural wonder to add a zip line, offering honeymooners and everyone else the chance to take an adrenaline-pumping plunge toward churning mist at speeds topping 40 mph.

The elevated cable rides have evolved from a novel way to explore jungle canopies to almost necessary additions to lure tourists in the 21st century to established destinations. It’s a trend that’s exposed a rift between those who approach nature like contemplative monks and others who require an extreme, Indiana Jones-style experience.

“We can’t make these into museums. We have to keep the general public – the folks that these places have been set aside for – we have to keep them motivated to get out there,” argued Tom Benson, co-founder and chief experience officer at WildPlay Element Parks, which built the Niagara Falls zip line.

Daredevil: Would you plunge over Niagara Falls in this vehicle?

    From the Globe and Mail:

The Daredevil is a thrill ride boat designed to take the plunge over Niagara Falls with eight people on board. A drag anchor chute would slow it down, and safety features would include shock-absorbing bumpers.

    No thank you!

I don’t know anything about this, but apparently there is going to be a play that is “about a real-life lady daredevil who survived a plunge over Niagara Falls”. The play will be about Annie Taylor.
