Photography business rising from the ashes

From the Niagara Falls Review:

It was a nightmare.

K.J. Dong Jia was at home on January 15, 2016 when he received a call from his alarm company.

A fire, deliberately set, had swept through his themed photography business on Victoria Avenue near Clifton Hill.

“I came right away,” the 35-year-old father of three recalled. “It was such a nightmare.”

Damage was pegged at $300,000.

“I had to rebuild everything,” he said.

Jia had opened Allways Antique Photo in the heart of the city’s tourism sector in 2012 after operating similar operations in Toronto and Alberta.

The business is a combination of what Jia knows best – business and photography.

From Niagara This Week:

It was a picture-perfect moment, over 170 years ago.
The world known attraction in Niagara Falls will be getting back a piece of its history that was once thought to be lost. Now, 13 years after its re-discovery, one of the earliest known photos of the Falls will return to its original site – the same spot where it was taken in 1840.
The Niagara Parks Commission unveiled the photograph at a public conference on Wednesday, Oct. 27, and announced some of their plans and the history surrounding the old picture.

Someone with a Blogger blog posted about a recent tip to Niagara Falls (including some very nice pictures):

It has now been five years since my husband and I said I DO. It hardly feels possible that it has been that long. It has been a happy love filled journey and I feel so lucky to be head over heals in love with this amazing man, and also getting to spend every day with my best friend. It dosen’t get better than that! For our anniversary we snuck away for the weekend for some much needed rest and relaxing. Life can be downright exhausting at times! We booked a room at Kilpatrick Manor B&B and let me tell you, this place is nothing short of fabulous. We loved everything about it. Our room was luxurious perfection, the house beautiful, and the breakfasts?? Let’s just say Kevin’s amazing cooking turned us into breakfast snobs! If you’re thinking about going to the Falls stay there! You will be so glad you did! Kevin and Nance are spectacular hosts!

Someone with a Blogger blog posted about a recent trip to Niagara Falls (along with pictures):

Matt and I just returned from our 2 year anniversary vacation to Niagara Falls, Canada. We had a wonderful time, and walked A LOT. My legs are still sore, but it was worth it. We stayed in two different hotels because we decided to go a day earlier than planned, both were nice. The second hotel room had a view of the falls, but we were only on the 4th floor – so it wasn’t as spectacular as a view as we had expected. However, there was an observatory on the 14th floor, which was cool.

I first saw this video on the Clifton Hill Blog, and have since had someone else email me a link to it as well.

This is a very cool time-lapse video hosted by Vimeo by Matthew Wartman of various parts of the Niagara Falls tourist area. Very well done!
