    HOCO Entertainment and Resorts tells 7EWN that construction on the new “Niagara Speedway” is nearing completion. The spiraling track is being built on Clifton Hill in Niagara Falls and is inspired by “Heavy Metal High Rise” which is a go-kart track in Branson, Missouri.

    The Niagara Global Tourism Institute (NGTI) has asked the city of Niagara Falls for $50,000 to create three blocks of public WIFI between the Seneca Niagara Casino and Niagara Falls State Park on Old Falls Street.

    The purpose of the WIFI is to help tourists avoid the “roaming” charges that sometimes happen with phones that are close to Canada, and to also encourage tourists to expand their trip outside of the State Park.

    A group pushing for a “World Weather Center” has decided it wants it to be located in Niagara Falls.

    Niagara Falls City Council members may not be too hot on the idea. They’ve been asked to consider contributing $100,000 to the project with a well-known local meteorologist at its helm.

    When the group first appeared before the city council earlier this year, it was uncertain of the ultimate location of its weather center. On Monday, Don Paul, a meteorologist at WKBW Channel 7 news, and his colleagues said they want to see the World Weather Center in the city of Niagara Falls.

    “It’s great news,” Mayor Jim Diodati said. “We’ve been working on it for quite a long time. We had hoped to have them in 2016.”

    At Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museum, the works of Willard Wigan can be viewed by visitors, but not with the naked eye. The incredibly small sculptures can only be seen with a microscope.

    Niagara University lays out plans for tourism institute

    Niagara University’s Global Tourism Institute will include building space in downtown Niagara Falls and dedicated research efforts that seek new tourism opportunities, university officials said this week.

    It will aim to attract international students interested in studying tourism and also establish partnerships with other educational entities and businesses.
