From the Niagara Falls Review:
Some call it a niche market. Others claim it could be the missing link for tourism in Niagara.
Ron Dale has his own take on heritage tourism.
If local municipalities “think outside the box†when celebrations kick off to commemorate the bicentennial of the War of 1812 in four years, they may find that long-awaited cure to curtail the downward spiral of visitors to the region, says Dale, national project manager for Parks Canada’s War of 1812 Bicentennial committee.
“We’re hoping to build awareness and pride. We’re also hoping to build heritage tourism that will go a long way in sustaining our historic infrastructure that is right here in Niagara,†says Dale.
