- @pablorenoir I don't think that's fair. He didn't need and didn't want it. It was forced on him. in reply to pablorenoir #
- I'll also try to post a couple of screenshots #
- Well, that's all for tonight. It was a great show. I know a few people who were there tonight, so I'll try to get their perspective #
- The broadcast is over #
- How can you pray for help when you are doing something so risky? God gave me this ability and provides a way #
- "The only technology this guys needs is a pole" #
- What's next? The Grand Canyon! #
- @ClaireMacCMS I'm pretty sure there is supposed to be. Probably have to wait for the broadcast to be over due to the sound in reply to ClaireMacCMS #
- He called his grandmother #
- How does he kneel on the wire?!?! #
- Thank you to the Niagara Parks Commision for allowing the walk to happen #
- I wonder what Jay Cochrane thinks of all of this #
- Here come the commercials again #
- I love you Dad #
- The family legacy has been increased #
- The male broadcaster talks way too much #
- What is the purpose of your trip, sir? To inspire people around the world! #
- He's checking in with customs #
- My wife just asked if he was going to go back the other way #
- Fantastic show! Way to go Nik #
- He ran to the end 🙂 #
- He's almost there #
- He just waved at the crowd and kneeled #
- He's hearing the crowd now over the roar of the Falls #
- He's drained. His hands feel like they are going numb #
- "the mist was thick" #
- He is now officially in Canada #
- Wow, does he ever look focused #
- He's walking uphill now #
- He feels like an idiot wearing the harness #
- Sometimes it is hard to tell if his "oh God" comments are praise or if something bad is starting to happen #
- @scottandros Did they not divert the water tonight? in reply to scottandros #
- He looks drenched #
- The shots showing the sag in the wire are amazing #
- He just complained about the weather station on one of the pendulums #
- I didn't think the Maid of the Mist went out at night #
- 10 minutes in… So far so good #
- He's hitting the mist now #
- He can't see the wire move because of the other movement in his field of view #
- Great camera shot as he is over the brink! #
- They are asking Nik questions live! #
- You can really see the wire move when they show the shot up the wire #
- No mist yet. No insects. Harness feels fine #
- He is obviously a very religious man #
- The birds flying around must be distracting #
- I'm at the edge of my chair! Really! #
- He's approaching the lip/brink #
- Being able hear what his father is saying is cool #
- The harness does look like it would be a drag (literally) #
- "see you on the other side guys" #
- Here we go! #
- He's waving #
- That seemed like a long 2 minutes #
- I wonder if the Niagara Falls Ribfest was helped or hurt by the crowds heading to Table Rock #
- 2 minutes to go… The last of the commercials… Yay! #
- How can Wallenda not be nervous ?!?! #
- I would definitely say a prayer, too! #
- 5 minutes to go #
- How can you have a broadcast about a wire walk in Niagara Falls and not mention Blondin?!?! #
- David Blaine apparently wished him luck #
- They just said the walk would be shown without commercials #
- 10 minutes to go #
- Are there really 100,000 people there in Niagara Falls? #
- The lighting ABC brought in sure lights up the Falls nicely #
- "I love what I do" – Nik Wallenda #
- I also thought CTV would jump in every once in a while to say their own thing, but it seems to be all simulcast other than the commercials #
- @paintvrules I knew the time had been changed, but hadn't heard he would be watching in reply to paintvrules #
- It just occurred to me that they are probably showing all the commercials now so they can show the walk uninterrupted #
- The first Wallenda's performed in 1780 #
- No goggles #
- There are rescue baskets at each end of the wire #
- Nik feels that the harness is holding him back #
- I didn't realize Nik Wallenda was younger than me #
- Just over 20 minutes to go #
- ABC also could have talked about Niagara Falls NY and how they are suffering #
- I wonder how the Ringo Starr concert was tonight and if he will be watching the walk #
- The segment about the science of the walk was also pretty cool #
- The segment about the Wallenda family and their history was good. #
- I also thought they would mention other Niagara Falls daredevils. Again, nothing so far. #
- There are A LOT of commercials! #
- @adamwhite I still thought something would be said about Niagara Falls as a place to visif in reply to adamwhite #
- There have been a couple of gorgeous shots of the Niagara SkyWheel #
- I don't watch much TV, so I've never heard of the weather guy and the male co-host. I remember Hannah Storm from NBA broadcasts #
- I'm sick of all the DQ and MMVA commercials! #
- An hour and a half into the broadcast and they mentioned the harness for the first time #
- I thought that ABC would show more of the things to do in Niagara Falls (SkyWheel, Marineland, Bird Kingdom, etc). So far nothing. #
- The top twenty stunts of all time shown on ABC was interesting. Some of those stunts were crazy!!! #
- What's the right hashtag… #wirewalk or #walkthewire ? #
- In case anyone is wondering, we decided to avoid the crowd and watch the show at home. So far Niagara Falls looks pretty good tonight! #
All things Niagara Falls tourism…
I loved the show. I did think ABC’s coverage was a little “blah” and at times excessive overall.
I will admit that when they announced the harness, and when I saw Nik was asking for money I was pretty down on the event, but I was very wrong to think that way- Nik did a great job and it truly felt like something special was happening.
Great job to all involved!! Let’s hope the region can get some economic kick and boost from it all!!
