‘Daunting task’ lies ahead

    From the Niagara Falls Review:

The Toronto Power Generating Station provided Ontario’s biggest city with its electricity a century ago, but these days it doesn’t even have its own electrical connection.

A gas-powered generator was needed Friday to power the sound system at an announcement about the future of the palatial building upriver from the Horseshoe Falls.

The federal and provincial governments are each contributing $425,000 toward structural work needed to bring the 103- year-old building back to life.

“This building is in dire need of an injection right now,” said Archie Katzman, vice-chairman of the Niagara Parks Commission, which took ownership of the decommissioned generator in 2007.
