The falls themselves are stunning, as expected, but talk about commercialized. We bought a full-day pass, which included (among other things) bus transportation along the river, a boat trip to the base of the falls (I have a blue Maid of the Mist poncho to prove that I was there), a hike along the Class 6 rapids below the falls (awe-inspiring), a cable car ride across the river above a wild whirlpool (closed due to high winds — so sad), and a visit to the Butterfly Gardens, which were phenomenal. My goodness, what a day.
We finished with a ride up an outdoor elevator to the top of the Skylon Tower (like the Seattle Space Needle) for a panoramic view overlooking the falls area and 80 miles beyond in every direction. I took nearly 200 pictures that day.

I thought it was funny that the author called the Butterfly Conservatory the Butterfly Gardens.
