{"id":8533,"date":"2010-05-24T11:37:11","date_gmt":"2010-05-24T15:37:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/accessniagara.com\/blog\/?p=8533"},"modified":"2010-05-24T11:37:11","modified_gmt":"2010-05-24T15:37:11","slug":"parkway-removal-bid-gains-canadian-support","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/accessniagara.com\/blog\/2010\/05\/24\/parkway-removal-bid-gains-canadian-support\/","title":{"rendered":"Parkway removal bid gains Canadian support"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From the <a href=\"http:\/\/niagara-gazette.com\/local\/x1414111569\/Parkway-removal-bid-gains-Canadian-support\">Niagara Gazette<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A bid to remove a section of the Robert Moses Parkway has drawn interest from a few groups in Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Several Ontario-based organizations have signed an online petition advocating for the elimination of the 6.5 mile parkway section along the top of the Niagara Gorge between Niagara Falls and Lewiston.<\/p>\n<p>The Niagara Restoration Council, Friends of Niagara Falls, Preserve Our Parks, the Niagara Falls Nature Club and the Bert Miller Nature Club of Fort Erie all have endorsed the Niagara Heritage Partnership\u2019s effort to have the stretch of parkway removed. To date, a total of 81 local, state, national and international organizations have supported the proposal. The list includes 30 Niagara Falls Block Clubs and several of the city\u2019s business organizations.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This growing international support demonstrates an increasing recognition that gorge parkway removal has high value \u2014 for the ecological restoration of the gorge we share and for the economic benefits arising from the natural world,\u201d Partnership Chair Bob Baxter said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From the Niagara Gazette: A bid to remove a section of the Robert Moses Parkway has drawn interest from a few groups in Canada.
