{"id":7299,"date":"2009-09-16T11:00:55","date_gmt":"2009-09-16T15:00:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/accessniagara.com\/blog\/?p=7299"},"modified":"2009-09-16T10:11:19","modified_gmt":"2009-09-16T14:11:19","slug":"falls-may-be-able-to-do-little-in-marineland-eviction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/accessniagara.com\/blog\/2009\/09\/16\/falls-may-be-able-to-do-little-in-marineland-eviction\/","title":{"rendered":"Falls may be able to do little in Marineland eviction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wellandtribune.ca\/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=1754142\">Niagara Falls Review<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Close to 50 families facing eviction from a trailer park owned by Marineland are hoping city council will be their white knight, but councillors themselves are warning them not to pin their hopes on city hall.<\/p>\n<p>Council deferred again Monday a decision on whether or not to use a rarely used section of Ontario\u2019s Municipal Act in a bid to prevent Marineland owner John Holer from kicking out 47 families who live in the Green Oaks mobile home park on Stanley Ave.<\/p>\n<p>Lawyer Nicholas Bader, representing many of the tenants, presented his report on the issue but gave it to Marineland lawyer Tom Richardson 15 minutes before a committee meeting at city hall Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Councillors said they wanted more time and for Richardson to have more time to review his report before making a decision.<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019ll reconsider the tenants&#8217; request at the committee\u2019s next meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Despite tenants\u2019 pleas for city intervention, Mayor Ted Salci said it\u2019s unlikely council can give them the relief they\u2019re looking for.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From the Niagara Falls Review: Close to 50 families facing eviction from a trailer park owned by Marineland are hoping city council will be their white knight, but councillors themselves are warning them not to pin their hopes on city hall.
