If Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the-Lake were to be embodied by two grumpy old men and played in a movie, The Odd Couple would be the perfect film. Niagara Falls, uncouth, out-of-fashion and badly in need of a new coat of paint, would be Oscar; while Niagara-on-the-Lake would be Felix, stuck-up, tony and impossibly austere.<\/p>\n
“They do a good job for the high-end, wealthy Victorian type,” says R.T. (Ted) Salci, 60, mayor of Niagara Falls. “Our neighbours will pay $6 for a hot dog, but we don’t go for that here.”<\/p>\n
However, the lines between Oscar and Felix may be blurring.
